"I'm Jack, The Pumpkin King!"

As usual, we started carving pumpkins about 9:30 last night. We turned on "The nightmare before Christmas" and got out the carving tools. At 11:00 we were done (since we only let the kids pick easy faces this year). We had to do a test run. For this picture I asked the kids to make the same face as their pumpkin. you can see who even chose to participate.

None of the pictures with lit pumkins turned out. We will try again tonight.

Happy Halloween!

pumpkin patch

I don't think my middle child has ever been to a pumpkin patch, at least with her family. So today I decided to take these two to a local pumpkin patch. I just wanted to take a few pictures for blogging and srapbooking. Just so Emily would have evidence that she was neglected.:)
Today is so beautiful. Days like this makes me think I could live somewhere where there are only 2 seasons: spring and fall.
We came home with a urban turban gourd (something like that), a pumpkin, and a mini snake looking gourd all for $3! And Jake got to run around in the pumpkin patch for a while looking for his pumpkin. Maybe I will take Emily back tonight.

Fabric Sale

Table runners and pumpkins

My sister called and said the Fall fabric was 50% off-did I need a reason to drop everything and go hang out at the fabric store? NO! When Jake found out where we were going he begged to go to a friends, he is not my fabric friend anymore. So, I dropped him off and spent the next hour perusing fall fabric with my sister.
I got fabric to have the kids make a pumpkin for their teacher. I couldn't decide what fabric to pick so I picked 6 different prints. Emily was my little crafter. She spent about an hour making the pumpkins with me. She even came up with a few different ideas for them. I knew she was our "artsy fartsy" child.
Then I made two table runners. Brad said they looked like something out of my moms kitchen (not a compliment). But I love the fabric anyway. One of the lines of fabrics is called "pumkins gone wild".

HM3!

Paige had been talking about going to HM3 for a while and I wasn't excited about taking her. Then something happened (a mommy moment) and I decided to get tickets and take her and Emily. We went with some neighbor friends on Sat morning at 10:15. I actually REALLY liked to show. It made me laugh, it made me cry. Sad, I know, But I did tear up during the graduation scene.
After the excitement of seeing it and hearing Deborah talk about going to see the midnight showing with Rimanda (sorry, just had to do it:). I let Deborah talk me into getting tickets to see Twilight. I am sad to say my first midnight showing of a movie (that I remember, I could have watched one when I worked at the "Wilsh". Only employees stayed late and watched new movies) will be Twilight (sorry Memish-I hated the book). I am going to be in the excitement of it all. And of course, to get a DP at 12:30 AM. Can't pass that up.

The Costume Box and a camera

We finally got out the boxes of costumes and #'s 2-4 had a great time dressing up and taking pictures. You have got to love digital cameras. Seven years ago we would have never let the kids play around taking pictures!

Baby, baby....

Our sweet baby is 9 months old! We took her "monthly picture" by pooh bear. She was so incredibly cute we all ended up on the floor with her.
Still not crawling, but rolling around to get places now. Any one know how to stop her from growing? Well, she only weighed in at 14 lbs and 10 ounces at her check up. Maybe I have figured it out!:)

Shop Hop

My two sisters and my mom went on a "shop hop". This is the first one I have ever done. We went to 14 quilt stores from Payson to Kaysville in one day. Then the next day we visited the last 3 to get blackout on our card. At each shop we got a free notion and by the end we had a sewing kit. Of course at each store we saw tons of cute quilts and fabrics. My sisters and I picked up about 20 new fabrics for our "eye spy" quilt and a few other things too.
I was going to take a picture of us at one of the stores and I never did (but I took many pics of quilts) so here is a picture of a no sew craft you can all do. Here is what you need: "fat quarter" and a roll of toilet paper and a piece of brown paper bag and some Green fabric and ribbon. Put the TP in the center of your fabric and then tuck it in the TP. Add the green fabric and stem and you are done. Tie a ribbon or whatever around it if you want. Very cute!
The best part of this was spending the day with my sisters and mom. I love having girl time with them. It is good for my soul!
