It is that time again

This week is the book fair at the school so that means it is time for Sarah to be sick. She has been sick during every book fair! The only times she has had an ear infection is during the book fair. This time it is a double ear infection. I think her left ear burst today. But not only is Sarah sick Paige is too! Brad took the girls to the doc this morning while I set up the book fair. Paige has a wicked urinary tract infection and CHICKEN POX!!!! Can you believe that? Yes, she has had the shot, but her eczema is so bad she got it anyway (at least that is why the doc said she got it). So, Paige gets one and a half weeks for spring break! And so does a boy in her class. I guess he is "exempt" and has to stay home for 2 weeks when someone has the chicken pox in his class.

Could some one bring me a dr pepper (not to be picky but I like Taco Time the best)?

Loud socks

I call Emily our "Family Cheerleader". Everything about her is full of life. One thing that she loves to do is wear loud socks. These socks rarely match what she is wearing or each other. I read a poem in The Glass Castle that reminded me of Emily and her socks:
To keep your feet
From falling asleep
Wear loud socks
They can't be beat!
The first picture is of Emily on a normal day going to school. These socks are actually a little quiet for Em. The second picture is a day they had to dress up like their favorite character from a book. She chose "Clementine". Fits her perfectly. :) We highly recommend the book for anyone out there. For an adult it is a quick read and will make you smile and for those with girls it is fun to read with them. (Chalen and Ashley I am thinking of you!)

Corned Beef dinner

On Sunday we were finally able to be together and have our St. Patrick's Day dinner. I have a recipe for corned beef that is yummy. We had asparagus, kiwi, and green jello and potatoes. I had bought green rolls earlier in the week but by Sunday they were too old to eat. And eating at the table instead of the bar means a special occasion at our house.

just hanging around

Sarah has figured out how to use the rocking chair and climb onto our ottoman. Luckily it is not far to the floor. She hasn't fallen off much but will carefully hop down expecting the fall. Notice she is holding a shoe! :)
The rocking chair was mine when I was little. I was going to recover it but a neighbor saw it and told me to leave it like it was. She thought it was beautiful. Since I am so sentimental I agreed. I didn't want to recover it anyway. But it would be cute in pink.

Sweet Hour of Prayer

I guess this really should fall under the "Jakeism" category....Jake says the sweetest prayers at night. A few months ago the would say "thankful we can do our jobs on Saturday". Lately it is "Thankful we can listen to Heavenly Fathers plan and example".
Emily used to say the sweetest prayers. She still is always asking that we have a fun time. Usually twice in her prayer. I am not sure what kind of things she plans on doing after her prayer to have fun because she is in bed ready to go to sleep when the prayer is said.
Tonight I am Thankful for sweet prayers and blogging so I have a way to remember what is going on in our life.

Green Day

This morning Jake woke up to green water in the toilets, gold wrapped chocolate coins, green pancakes and green milk. Luckily the leprechauns didn't mess up our house like they did the preschool room last year. Jake did find it difficult to find a toilet that hadn't been tampered with so he could do his duty in the morning. Such a fun age.

desserts dessert

While eating dessert tonight Jake asked "Do I have to eat it all to get dessert?". I guess he thought the lemon pudding cake we made was dinner? But dinner was actually free roast burger sandwiches at Arbys.

Shoes

I FINALLY found some shoes at Target for Sarah. It seemed they never had the right size and style that I wanted. I wasn't sure if she would wear them because the cute boots I bought for the winter she wouldn't put on at all. But she loves these. She does not like for them to be taken off at night. She will carry them around if they happen to be off.
Then at Gardner Village I found another pair. I wanted a nicer pair to wear with dresses. She loves these too! And so do I!
I also love that she picked up to the sign for shoes right away!

Shoes come in handy since this is what we spend most of our time doing. She is such a funny walker. I think she thinks she can do it and then she lets go of our hand or whatever she is hanging on to and then wobbles and falls. It is too cute. Even when she holds one hand she is very wobbly. Maybe it is her 17 pound body that makes her look funny. And that sweet smile she usually has is bigger than life.

Smile

How can this picture not make you smile? Emily is in second grade and they are doing a report on their favorite animal. As you can see Emily picked a giraffe. She was so excited to finish it all and put it in the box. At 7:00 am Sunday morning she asked me again where the green and blue paper was so she could finish it.
I have never seen such a cute giraffe. And of course it is smiling, just like our sweet Em.

Happy Square Root Day!

3/3/09
The kids asked me where I found all these silly days. I wish I could have thought of something real clever to tell them so they thought I was really smart. But I thold them the truth. The Today Show. I turn it on after they leave while cleaning the kitchen up.

Did I mention March is National Peanut Butter month?

Any guess when the next square root day is?

more!?!

Sarah is becoming such a copycat lately. Works out great for signing. In the bottom picture she is signing "more". She can sign: milk, more, all done, no, shoes, and dog. She can play "peek-a-boo" and blow kisses and smack her lips together. She knows to smile when the camera comes out. She will put the phone to her ear and jabber away. So sweet.
